How to make it easier for your dog to take medicine

On the surface, taking medicine for a dog cannot be considered eating. But in many cases, you have to put the pills in the food to trick the dog into eating it. Therefore, feeding medicine is often closely related to feeding food. It is impossible to make a dog take medicine on its own initiative, especially some very bitter medicines. People can’t eat them, let alone dogs.
The general method is: forcibly pry the dog’s mouth open, or feed the dog with an injection tube, but these methods are often ineffective and dangerous.

We have to find a way to make the dog willing to open his mouth. Why do dogs want to open their mouths? Because dogs think that good things will happen. So we usually have to train dogs to let them associate opening their mouths with good things.
The following method is a method I saw in a Taiwanese dog training book. It feels very good, let me introduce it to you:
The core of this training is: usually use food to train the dog, and you can use medicine instead at critical times. In addition to being useful when feeding medicine to dogs, if the dog picks up something that should not be eaten in its mouth, the dog owner can also take it out in time.

Notes:
1. However, it is the nature of dogs to not accept the food in their mouths being snatched away, so when training, you can first put the small food that the dog likes to eat in your hand, and when the dog smells the smell, it will open its mouth.
2. Generally, small dogs are not a big problem. If it is a medium or large dog, be careful not to let the dog bite your hand.
