Teach your dog to hold an item
Next, let’s learn about dog picking training. In fact, this part should be divided into “picking” and “taking”. Let’s first introduce “Diao”
practice:
1. First, let the dog sit on your left side, hold a toy ball in your right hand, and then give a “bite” command. Then, gently open the dog’s mouth with your left hand and put the ball into the dog’s mouth.
2. Use your right hand to support the dog’s lower palate. Simultaneously issue commands of “bite” and “good”, and use your left hand to pat the dog’s head to firmly grasp the item. When the dog shows signs of spitting out objects, the command to “bite” should be repeated and the chin should be lightly supported. The small ball should be stuffed back into the dog’s mouth, allowing the dog to continue biting the toy.
3. In the early stages of training, if the dog can hold it for a few seconds, it is considered successful.
4. Subsequently, the dog owner can issue a “spit” command if the dog spits out the toy. Remember that the owner must pet the dog and let it know that it is doing well.
5. Finally, put away the small ball toy and reward the dog with food. Train repeatedly according to the above method. Once the dog can freely pick up and spit out the toy according to your command, it can proceed to the next step of “picking up” training.
