When training a dog, it is important to remember that as long as the dog performs the right action, it is important to reward the dog in a timely manner. Sometimes verbal praise alone is useless, and giving a dog something affordable is also necessary. Overall, there are three ways to reward dogs: caressing, food, and toys.
1、 Food rewards:
Food reward is the most commonly used reward method during dog training (and also the most core~). But this food cannot be very large or something that dogs usually don’t like to eat. Food should be made small (otherwise it will be gone before a few training sessions~), and small food should be easy to hold in the hand to tease the dog, so that the dog will be interested in showing off well to eat it.
2、 Petition reward:
Although there isn’t anything delicious or any special toys. But as long as you can pet your dog, it will also give it a great sense of satisfaction. For example, when a dog is performing well, squatting down, touching its head, tickling its neck, or scratching under its ears will make the dog understand that it is performing well this time and continue to perform well like this. You should know that dogs are very concerned about their status in the owner’s heart, and the more you make them feel valued, the better they will perform. This is the same as children.
3、 Toy rewards:
Toys can also be used as a reward when dogs perform well. You can give it a toy to play with yourself for a while, or you can play with it for a while, and the dog will be quite happy. But the most important thing about this reward method is not to mix toys used as rewards with toys that dogs usually play with.
Dogs are quite fond of the new and dislike the old, so they usually put away the toys used as rewards and only use them during training to have full attraction to the dog, and it will perform well to receive this reward. Training a dog is a constant exploration. It’s up to you to summarize which rewards your dog prefers and which ones are most effective!
